Hello I wanted to take my son to Port Royal

So what i am asking is, since he loved the pirates of the Caribbean movies he wanted to see port royal and the fort there and Tortogue, is this possible? does the fort still exist or look like the movie, does Tortouge really exist? is this a safe place to take a 15 year old boy? can you get hotel or cottage on the beach near to the fort?
thank you for your time

Hi Charles - there is still a Fort in Port Royal, but it doesn't look much like what you would have seen in the movies. There is a also museum that showcases many of the items from Port Royal at the time of the earthquake in 1692 that have been rescued from the sea floor. It is an interesting place to visit for historical purposes, but a 15 y/o's expectations of a pirate city based on movie protrayals are not likely to be met I'm afraid.

The Grand Port Royal Hotel is close to Port Royal.

I'm not sure what or where Tortuge is - could it possibly be the island of Tortuga?
